Are You Suffering From Candida Overgrowth?

Candida is believed to be present in nearly everyone.  So, what do you need to look out for to know if you have got a candida overgrowth?

For someone who is healthy then the presence of candida does not cause much of a problem and it is naturally kept under control because of the friendly bacteria (or probiotics) that are also found in our bodies.

However, Candida can become a problem for many people and in some cases it can result in an overgrowth, causing yeast infections with nasty side effects.

If this happens then there can be symptoms that are recognizable, which range from mild irritation to severe complications. It can even become life threatening if left untreated for an extended period.

For some people an overgrowth of candida may result in them suffering from chronic yeast infections, chronic fatigue, IBS along with excessive gas and bloating to their digestive system.  For others they may even find it can cause them to be allergic to particular foods or to suffer from skin rashes.

An overgrowth of Candida can often be exacerbated by the amount of sugar or alcohol a person consumes as well as through any food allergies they have.

You may have been aware that Candida feeds on simple sugars, but did you know that food allergies could inflame a person’s colon, which in turn encourages it to produce more Candida?

So, if you want to help prevent an overgrowth of Candida then eliminating sugar, alcohol and foods that cause an allergic reaction from your diet will help.

Unfortunately, if this is not done then the sufferer could end up in a vicious cycle and find they are continually battling against Candida infections that reoccur periodically.

When an overgrowth of Candida occurs it is often because the Candida has been allowed to grow rapidly in the person’s intestinal tract. This is commonly because there is an insufficient volume of friendly bacteria in the intestinal tract to keep it suppressed.

When this occurs the intestinal system becomes unbalanced and some of the following symptoms may be noticed.

1.  Headaches
2.  Fatigue or low levels of energy despite getting plenty of sleep and rest each day.
3.  A bloated or painful abdomen and food is no longer digested efficiently.
4.  Suffering from excess gas (flatulence).
5.  Some people may even find that they are suffering from eczema.

As the symptoms relating to Candida infection are very similar to many other common health problems it can make it all the more difficult for a health professional to diagnose it.

One of the quickest ways of finding out if you have an overgrowth of Candida in your digestive system is through talking to your health professional.

Often they will suggest that you have a simple blood test done called “Candida Immune Complexes Assay Test”, which will be able to test to see if there are any Candida anti-bodies in your system.

It is important you also check with them what could have been the cause of the infection in the first place.  Knowing this will allow you to make changes so that the candida overgrowth is less likely to reoccur.
